Your mission, should you choose to accept it, your task is to witness Ethan Hunt and the other IMF members try to save the planet, continuing from the shocking conclusion of Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning in 2023. For the first time in the series’ history, the eighth installment of the critically acclaimed action franchise will be a direct sequel to the preceding picture. This means that fans of secret agents, Tom Cruise, and spectacular stunts will be able to witness how the story ends when the as-yet-untitled film hits theaters in the spring of 2019. Here is all the information you require concerning Mission: Impossible 8: before that. Furthermore, this website won’t self-destruct, so relax.

WHAT IS THE NAME OF THE NEW MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE 8: MOVIE?

This next movie was originally supposed to be called Mission: Impossible 8: – Dead Reckoning Part 2. But such subtitle is no longer used. The film’s studio, Paramount Pictures, revealed the title change and a one-year postponement of the film’s release date in October 2023. Dead Reckoning, which you can retroactively remove its “Part 1” moniker from, did poorly at the box office when it was released in July 2023. The reason for this has not been made clear, but it’s possible that the eighth Mission: Impossible is getting a different title because they don’t want to scare away potential audiences by clearly labeling it as the Part 2 to a Part 1 that most viewers skipped.

WHAT DATE WILL IT BE AVAILABLE?

The MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE 8: the movie is to have been filmed, edited, and released years prior, with an August 2022 debut date. But Dead Reckoning and it were both much later because of the COVID-19 epidemic. The release date of Mission: Impossible 8 was originally scheduled for June 2024, but it has subsequently been rescheduled to May 23, 2025.

The film’s production was halted in the summer of 2023 due to the SAG-AFTRA strike, which caused this most recent postponement. The next March, the filming started again.

Similar to every other Mission: Impossible film, the eighth installment will have its world premiere only in theaters.

WHO’S DIRECTING IT?

MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE 8: in the series is director Christopher McQuarrie, who raised the bar for Mission: Impossible with Rogue Nation, the franchise’s fifth picture, and then further with Fallout and Dead Reckoning. Similar to Dead Reckoning, Erik Jendresen and McQuarrie co-wrote the film.

WHO’S IN IT?

Naturally, Tom Cruise will reprise his role as IMF agent extraordinaire Ethan Hunt, a role he first took on when the first Mission: Impossible movie debuted in theaters in 1996. When MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE 8: film opens in almost 30 years, he will be 62 years old, and this could probably be his last appearance as the role.

Returning cast members Simon Pegg and Ving Rhames, who play fellow IMF operatives Benji Dunn and Luther Stickell, respectively, will be joining him. In Dead Reckoning, Hayley Atwell will play pickpocket Grace again. Grace gets entangled in the action and ends up joining the IMF. Esai Morales makes a reappearance in Dead Reckoning as Gabriel, the main antagonist who works for the all-powerful A.I. “Entity” that has the potential to end the planet. Vanessa Kirby, who plays Alanna Mitsopolis, a black market arms dealer; Frederick Schmidt, who plays her brother Zola; Shea Whigham, who plays US Intelligence agent Jasper Briggs, who spent the last film attempting to find Ethan Hunt; and Greg Tarzan Davis, who plays his sidekick Degas, are all returning.and Paris, played by Pom Klementieff, an assassin who left Gabriel’s company after Ethan saved her life. After portraying the same role in the original Mission: Impossible film, Henry Czerny returns to the role of CIA director Eugene Kittridge in Dead Reckoning.

According to reports, Mariela Garriga will portray a woman who showed up in enigmatic flashbacks connecting Ethan and Gabriel, while Mark Gatiss and Charles Parnell will reprise their brief roles as the chiefs of the NSA and NRO. Hopefully, the upcoming film will reveal how they met.

It’s funny to note that Rolf Saxon, who was last seen in the series as the unfortunate CIA agent William Donloe, who was sent to Alaska as a punishment for allowing Ethan Hunt to break in during the first Mission: Impossible, will be returning.

Naturally, the cast will include both new actors and actors returning from Dead Reckoning. Nick Offerman of Parks & Recreation portrays Sydney, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff; Holt McCallany of The Iron Claw plays Secretary of Defense Bernstein; and Hannah Waddingham of Ted Lasso has an unspecified part. There are also scheduled appearances by Lucy Tulugarjuk, Janet McTeer, Tramell Tillman, and Katy O’Brian.

WHAT HAPPENED IN THE LAST MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE FILM?

The Entity is a rogue, nearly omnipotent AI system that Ethan and his squad had to find two high-tech keys in order to control in Dead Reckoning. Ethan decides to go rogue rather than take the chance of allowing the AI to fall into the wrong hands because every organization and country on Earth, including the US, wants to be able to control the Entity.

In the process of trying to get the two Entity keys, Ethan meets Grace, a skilled burglar entrusted with stealing the keys without considering the consequences. In addition, Gabriel, a guy with a history with Ethan, is searching for the keys and is acting as the Entity’s representative. Ilsa Faust (Rebecca Ferguson), a former M16 agent, Ethan’s ally, and potential love interest, is slain in the struggle for the keys after a failed sale at the posh Venice Party of black-market arms dealer Alanna Mitsopolis.

Now that she is collaborating with Ethan, Grace poses as Alanna aboard the Orient Express in a desperate bid to obtain both keys. Even though this scheme goes awry and the train really crashes, Ethan manages to rob Gabriel of both keys and the villain makes off with his life. Grace declares her decision to formally join the IMF, but Ethan, Benji, and Luther continue to act erratically. As Ethan saves her life, Paris, an assassin, betrays Gabriel. In the meantime, Paris tells Ethan what the Entity’s keys unlock. The Sevastopol, a submerged Russian next-generation submarine, contains the AI’s intelligence. What is Ethan’s next unachievable task? to locate the Sevastopol, enter it, and use the keys to permanently destroy the Entity, unless Gabriel or someone else intervenes first.

AND WHAT WILL HAPPEN IN THE NEXT ONE?

Although the eighth Mission: Impossible film hasn’t had an official description released, we can infer a good amount of the narrative from the fact that it’s the first direct sequel in the franchise’s history. The goal of Ethan Hunt and his companions is to take down Gabriel and permanently eliminate the Entity. The ultimate confrontation is probably going to happen on board the submerged Sevastopol, but since Ethan doesn’t know where the wreck is, the early story should focus on finding out.

Once official photos, trailers, and of course a description are released, we will know more about the story.

WHAT ABOVE MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE MOVIES WILL BE THE NEXT?

The original plan was for Dead Reckoning and this next movie to serve as Ethan Hunt’s big finale. Although it seems likely that the M:I series would go on in some capacity, this might have been Cruise’s last appearance. But McQuarrie stated to Fandango in June 2022 that “Parts 1 & 2 are not the end of the series, and they already have ideas for what comes next.” In a similar vein, Cruise kept his options open during the press tour, even expressing his hope to work on Mission: Impossible films deep into his senior years. Granted, this was prior to Dead Reckoning’s poor box office performance, but if the eighth Mission: Impossible is a success, don’t be shocked if Ethan Hunt makes another appearance.

WHAT IS THE LENGTH OF MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE 8?

As the film is still being made, the duration of the eighth Mission: Impossible film has not yet been disclosed. To put things in perspective, Dead Reckoning was 163 minutes long, which makes it the longest film in the franchise by a wide margin. The other films in the series are all roughly 130 minutes long.

DOES IT HAVE ANY TRAILERS?

Mission: Impossible 8:  hasn’t had a trailer yet because filming is still ongoing.

But it appears like we’ve seen a glimpse of some of the action. The first Dead Reckoning trailer debuted at the 2022 CinemaCon, but not before a video of Cruise relaxing on a biplane, announcing the teaser, and then taking off. Since there was no scene similar to that in Dead Reckoning, this is as near as we get to a sneak peek. He and director McQuarrie were filming in South Africa at the time.

AND IS TOM CRUISE CONTINUING TO PERFORM HIS OWN STUNTS?

Is that a valid query? Tom Cruise, who made headlines by riding a motorcycle down a cliff in Dead Reckoning, is performing his own stunts for the follow-up, of course. Kindly refer to the aforementioned.
